Where’s Rick Gunn?

Back on the Blog…

It’s been long months without blogging…

When I think about reasons why, the only solid one I can come up with is that my attention and inspiration have been elsewhere, concentrated on aspects in my life that were more significant.

More significant than sharing what I love to do so much in life? Well, yes.

When changes come at you a million miles an hour, priorities tend to shift. It’s a process we have to go through fully involved and committed.

October 16, 2011 changed my life in a way that is almost impossible to describe. Running a Marathon reinvented my entire being and redefined my purpose in life. The road that took me there was the most incredible journey of my life.

Arriving at the destination of 26.2 miles/42 kilometers at 42 years of age was a magical and pivotal moment.

Right after that evolutionary experience, a new journey started with a brand new outlook on the future.

An even better way of living started to form and give new hope with running as an essential element.

All of this needed time to sink in and find the right place in my mind and soul, the right direction in front of my eyes.

Now, moving on in this new year. I’m happy to be back on my Blog to share more of my inspiration and passion of capturing life.

Despite the fact that photography work has been very slim in the last few months, I am excited to present some amazing images from the past few months!

Here they are…

Tita Anderson and her wonderful team at Fromarc Insurance… This was a fun shoot finding the right look of five professionals for an ad in the paper.

Gina and Trey’s Engagement Portrait Session was captured in subzero windchill… They resisted the bitter cold along with me and ended up having a great time!

My good Friends of 11 years, Carrie and Keith with their Vizslas. This collage was put together from their annual holiday shoot.

I spent New Year’s Eve photographing a wonderful wedding celebration at Edgewood. This was Bridget and Guido’s kiss at Midnight!

So I continue on my endeavor of photography, happiness and joy with my two ever-astonishing companions, Zeke and Taz.

Here is to good health and great opportunities for the Year 2012! Let the Universe provide all good things to All of Us!

With Smiles always! :)

Arianna’s Fall colors

This was my last Senior Portrait session of the season. We were very lucky to catch the very last of the fall colors.

Despite some problems with my camera in the very first few minutes of the shoot, Arianna remained calm and collected. I tried to do the same. :)

The brilliant colors provided a wonderful background for the photos and Arianna’s beautiful looks made the pictures complete. She was a delight to work with. Her body moved with easy and each pose she put herself into looked perfect just like herself!

These images were my favorite ones…

A Golden story…

Taryn and Jake’s Golden Retrievers got to participate at the end of their engagement portrait session. Needless to say they were super excited to be out of the car after having waited for mom an dad for over an hour. It took a bit of an effort to make them sit still for photos and I had to be quick during the only few moments when they would actually not move. :)

Danielle…

More coming on Danielle’s fun senior portrait!

Lauren…

Just a few things I learned about Lauren… Determination, confidence, problem-solving. Soccer, piano, singing.

This stunning, angelic girl knows what she wants! More on Lauren coming soon!

These are some of my favorites from her session! :)

Billy’s Senior Portrait

I’m not sure how to say this gently, but Bill was not overly enthusiastic about his senior portraits… It happens with boys, I’ve seen it many times before.

I picked up on that in about one second when I met him. We struggled a bit with each other in the first few minutes of the session, then I basically told him that we should just have fun and forget about how he “needed” to be for the photos.

The rest of the shoot after that was filled with great connection between Billy and I. We figured out a jovial tone that created a comfortable energy especially for him.

I loved his expressions, even smirks throughout the session and how much at ease he became showing off his personality.

A Flower Girl Story…

This was a fairly typical case of a two-year-old being herself, in her own world, doing her ow thing whether it’s a wedding day or not! Exactly the way she ought to be! :)

We, adults kept trying to engage with her, to get her attention, to coax her to do things… Didn’t work.

It was actually quite perfect the way she ignored everyone including me and my camera. Every time I’d think I could have her look at me, she would turn away immediately leaving me with a big smile on my face. After a few failed attempts, I decided that anything of her will do. In fact, capturing her free spirit and independence will do best!

So that’s what I did. With crumbs and milk around her lips, with a cookie in her hand, goofy looks and the whole bit.

Insanely cute!

September Weddings!

The month of September was packed with wedding events. Four of them back to back gave me so much work on the computer, I’m just now coming up for air to continue with my Blog and show some beautiful images off.

Each wedding was unique and fun, heavily sprinkled with laughter, joy and yes, a lotta love! :) All that given, it was easy for me to document the sweetest moments of such special celebrations.

Congratulations to Krista and Michael, Meredith and Jefferey, Ann and Jason, Heather and Troy, Andrea and Joey!

Some of my favorite photographs from these Fall weddings are coming soon! Please stay tuned! :)
